Mike Reynolds is a visionary entrepreneur with a unique blend of expertise in both the cannabis and fishing industries. As a passionate advocate for medicinal cannabis, Mike's journey began when his son, at just eight months old, became the youngest patient to use CBD to treat epilepsy. This personal experience ignited a deep commitment to the development of cannabis laws, leading Mike to leave a career in education to assist in creating a legal framework for cannabis in Stanislaus County. His efforts culminated in the opening of a cannabis manufacturing facility in Ceres, California, where he played a pivotal role in advancing industry standards.

Mike’s drive for innovation didn't stop there. Leveraging his academic background, including the completion of a master’s degree, Mike immersed himself in scientific research, utilizing journal articles and research databases to explore new applications for terpenes. His keen interest in terpenes led him to investigate their potential to attract bass—a pursuit that has shaped the cutting-edge soft plastic bait products offered by Gateway Baits, his latest entrepreneurial venture. By blending his knowledge of cannabis with his passion for fishing, Mike has created a distinctive product line that incorporates terpenes to enhance the scent and flavor profiles of his baits, giving anglers a competitive edge on the water.

Today, Mike continues to push the boundaries of innovation within the fishing world, using his extensive research background and firsthand experience to bring science and nature together in perfect harmony. His commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability is reflected in every bait produced, allowing anglers to "smell what the bass have been choking”.

Thomas Baxter is proud to be a partner at Johnny Creek. At 41, he’s blessed to be married to a wonderful wife, Candice, and together they’re raising two daughters, Leighann and Kellie. Thomas’ journey to this point hasn’t been without challenges, but those hardships have shaped who he is today. Growing up, he found solace and purpose in the outdoors—camping, hiking, and especially fishing became more than hobbies; they became a lifeline. Alongside his faith and family, fishing is one of his greatest passions, bringing joy, fulfillment, and countless cherished memories over the years.

Greg has always been passionate about the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. While he dreamt of working in the fishing and hunting industry, the desire to start a family led him to pursue a nursing career instead. As a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) in the operating room, Greg found the work-life balance he sought, all while enjoying the outdoors with his wife, Lyndi, and their two sons, Koen and Reed, who share his enthusiasm for adventure. Through it all, Greg has relied on his faith to guide his decisions, trusting that each step in his journey was part of a bigger plan.

Greg's long-standing friendship with Mike, rooted in their shared passion for fishing, has played a pivotal role in the formation of Johnny Creek Baits. Having fished together since junior high, their love for the sport is evolving into a thriving business. Today, alongside co-founders Tommy and Mike, Greg is proud to help bring Johnny Creek Baits to life, turning a passion into a profession and sharing the joy of fishing with others.
